The festive/holiday season sees an increase in temptation and fitnah, a time when people lose themselves, in many different ways.

In a narration in Sunan Tirmidhi, a Sahabi asked Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) what is salvation?

In response, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) provided the formula for salvation.

Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu’anu) said: I asked Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) what is [the formula for] salvation?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied:

  1. Control your tongue
  2. Remain in your home
  3. Cry over your sins
