In the early days of Islam, scholars would often spend extended periods explaining a single Hadith in their lessons. This would sometimes span over several years. For instance, Imam Taqiyyuddin Subkiy (rahimahullah) spent 15 years elaborating on a Hadith from Sahih Muslim. This practice highlights the depth and significance they placed on understanding even a single Hadith comprehensively.

I chose to follow this habit for the famous Hadith known as: Hadith Jibril, by discussing its details over several lectures.

This Hadith is considered a key teaching of Islam, and is known as Ummus Sunnah, due to its encompassing nature. It is the first Hadith in Sahih Muslim and serves as a foundational text for understanding Islamic principles. This incident, occurring shortly before the Prophet’s passing, is renowned for its profound insights into the core aspects of the Din. The way the Nabiy (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) responded to the questions posed by this visitor underscores the importance of this Hadith in elucidating the essence of Islam
