Faqih Abul Layth As Samarqandiy (rahimahullah) mentions six principles that every Muslim ought to aspire for:

1. Acquiring knowledge.
2. Befriend those who encourage towards good and forbid wrong.
3. Recognise your enemies.
4. Meditate over the signs of Allah.
5. Exercise justice with the creation of Allah.
6. Prepare for death.
